Watch this video: IPad Horror- Simon Pierro

  •  Another entertaining — and this time scary — masterpiece.

When master magician Simon Pierro gets his hands on an iPad, watch out. Now he’s created a special Halloween edition of his unique iPad magic, blending his special brand of prestidigitation with carefully constructed digital wizardry.

Simon tells us he spent 10 weeks putting together this Halloween iPad act, and “it was a hell of a lot of work,” he says. “Luckily my iOS programmer Masashi Beheim again joined the project. It took him more than 100 hours of programming this time, being as fanatical about details as I am,” he added.

Simon wasn’t satisfied with a rehash of his brilliant “Preview of iOS 5”. He says, “So I came up with the idea to tell a story about a killer and together with my magic colleague Thomas Fraps we decided to take the clown as the usual suspect.”

Keep Up With Dean Kosage…

Trick or treating may end at your teenage years, but there are still lots of ways to celebrate the holiday. The following 10 iPhone apps are a great way to get you into the Halloween spirit. Boo! ~ Dean Kosage

The leaves are changing, the air is crisp and the pumpkins are piling up. Halloween is right around the corner. While the little ones are busy planning their costumes, mapping out their trick-or-treat routes and dreaming of piles of candy, there’s no reason why our connected generations can’t have fun on Oct. 31 as well.

Top 10 iPhone Apps for Halloween:

Zombies usually get a bad rap for being downright creepy, but the zombies in this app are quite the opposite. You can still create ones with exposed brains and knives in their skulls, but they somehow still manage to be huggable and cute.

Either way, this app is a great way to flex those creative zombie muscles. Plus you can share your masterpieces with your social networks too.

Cost: FREE

If you don’t want to go through the hassle and mess of carving an actual pumpkin, use this app to carve one virtually. Choose from a bevy of eye, nose and mouth shapes to create a unique pumpkin every time. After creating your masterpiece, dim the lights on the app and watch your pumpkin glow. We bet if you put your iPad in the window, no one will be the wiser.

Cost: $0.99

Nothing screeches Halloween like an evil witch laugh, a creaky door or creepy organ music. Halloween Sounds Pro lets you mix and match scary Halloween sounds to really get into the mood (despite the random frog sound thrown in there). Using the delay option, you can set the spooky soundtrack and leave the room. Or, if you have another device, use the Bluetooth feature to work the app remotely. Guaranteed to freak someone out.

Cost: FREE

You’ve been invited to a costume party, but have no idea what to wear. You could throw something together last minute (as usual), or check out this app, which contains costume ideas for adult men and women, as well as links to purchase directly. After all, there’s nothing like a showing up at a party in a “Sexy Swashbuckler” costume.

Cost: FREE

If you’re not the costume-wearing, pumpkin-carving type, get into the spirit by creating and sending a greeting card. Halloween Card Creator will allow you to express your Halloween sentiments with fun backgrounds, cool graphics and other customizable options. It’s the perfect way to wish someone a very Happy Hallows Eve.

Cost: FREE

If you’re accompanying the kids while they trick-or-treat, you can get quite chilly. A nice beverage in your hand would make all the difference. Pocket Cocktails is a great resource for some quirky beverages that befit the holiday (Pumpkin-Tini, Monster Punch and October Blood, for instance). The Bloody Brain drink shown here is simply peach schnapps, Bailey’s and grenadine – actual brains not included.

Cost: FREE

Ghost stories are scary enough, but when they’re true stories submitted by real people, you really begin to wonder about the supernatural. This app is a compilation of true ghost stories and terrifying experiences that have happened to people all over the world. The photo accompanying the app is a good indication of the scare factor – did they really have to use that creepy ghost-kid?

Cost: $0.99

If you want to take the scare a step further, check out the House of Horrors app to gain access to free full-length horror films, streamed right to your device. A good browsing function lets you search by genre, keyword, actor, title, director and more. You can also save movies to your queue, ready for a Halloween horror show marathon.

Cost: $0.99

Speaking of spooky places, what about visiting one near you? According to Dark Haunts, there’s likely a truly haunted location close by, along with a story of how the haunt came to be. (Cue Twilight Zone music.) There are approximately 3,200 locations in the DarkHaunts database, with many more being added regularly. If you’re in for a real-life fright night, and have the guts to check out one of the locations, more power to you.

Cost: $0.99

Ever wonder what you’d look like as a zombie? If so, check out ZombieBooth to instantly transform your face into the undead. This app even brings your zombie to life; you can watch it blink, growl and even try to bite your finger off if you get too close. (It’s pretty frightening, so if you want to test it out first, check out the free lite version.)

Cost: $0.99

The “Spherical Flying Machine” Can Land and Fly Almost Anywhere!

Wow…check this out! This “Spherical Flying Machine” isn’t it amazing? ~ Dean kosage

The sci-fi classic Star Wars: A New Hope features a famous scene in which Luke Skywalker practices Jedi Lightsaber skills on a small, flying sphere that can hover and move quickly in any direction. Now, Japan’s Ministry of Defense has developed what may be a precursor to the Jedi training ball, though they call it a “Spherical Flying Machine.”

Driven mostly by remote control, the 42-inch in diameter, 350 gram flying ball uses a combination of propellers and wings to hover, fly in all directions at up to 60 kph and even move along the ground and walls. Virtually nothing seems to stop the ball from “flying.”

According to Japanese ministry officials who demonstrated the flying ball this week at a DigiInfo Expo Conference in Japan, the sphere uses the propeller to lift off and land and the wings for lift as it flies forward. The secret sauce may by the sphere’s three gyroscopic sensors, which automatically right the ball when it’s on the ground or in the air. In the video, the ball lands and starts rolling around (thanks to the propeller). When it’s time to lift off, the gyroscopes help the ball position itself so the propeller is up top. There’s also a camera inside the sphere.

The Ministry of Defense built the robot to help them solve a problem. Apparently they’ve built aircrafts that can stand up vertically after flying horizontally, but take-offs and landings were difficult. Researchers then came up with the idea of a sphere as a potential solution. They then built this prototype with off-the-shelf parts for roughly $1,400. It’s unclear if the ministry plans on commercializing the flying sphere, but they do see some potential in the design. During the video, the demonstrator notes the flying sphere will be able to reach places that were previously hard to access by air.

Throwable Camera Creates 360-Degree Panoramic Images

Keep Up With Dean Kosage…

Are you, like so many others, tired of all those old-fashioned cameras you have to hold in order to take pictures?  Well here’s a camera you get to throw. ~ Dean kosage

The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera is a foam-padded ball studded with 36 fixed-focus, 2-megapixel mobile phone camera modules capable of taking a 360-degree panoramic photo.

You use the camera by throwing it directly in the air. When the camera reaches the apex — measured by an accelerometer in the camera — all 36 cameras automatically take a picture. These distinct pictures are then digitally stitched together and uploaded via USB where they are presented in a spherical panoramic viewer. This lets users interactively explore their photos including a zoom function.

The results — as seen in the video above — are pretty darn impressive, but the Ball Camera is definitely not meant for shaky hands. Any spin on the ball when it’s thrown could distort the final image and you certainly wouldn’t want to drop the thing despite its 3D-printed foam padding. The 2-megapixel cameras are adequate but the quality drops as soon as users try to zoom in on distant elements. Besides, it looks a little difficult to fit the thing into a purse, let alone your pocket.

Piano Stairs: The fun theory

It is awesome..!  Like if you searched for fun, and ended up here… Thumbs up if u did the same..! ~ Dean Kosage

Why it works: “Take the stairs instead of the escalator and feel better” is something we hear but didn’t often see until this sly video from Volkswagen appeared on the Web. It’s part of an inspiring campaign, The Fun Theory, that encourages people to come up with fun ways to “do good.” The video itself did well indeed, imbuing Volkswagen with a fun new ethos and racking up millions of views in the process.

These stairs were not made with touch pads or sensors, they were made with laser beams, which had a lot of problems.. This is the best we could do!

How the iPad Has Changed One 99-Year-Old Woman’s Life

This is awesome.  Always cool to see tech help change our lives.. specially this 99-Old  Woman’s Life ~ Dean kosage

We’ve seen iPads and cats  go viral. We’ve seen iPads and dogs  go viral. But the latest iPad YouTube sensation is far more special: It depicts how the device has changed one 99-year-old woman’s life.

99-year-old Virgina Cambell of Lake Oswego, Oregon is an avid reader, according to The Oregonian. Unfortunately she has glaucoma, which affects her vision and makes it difficult for her to read books.

Her solution? The iPad, which is her first computer according to the now-viral video depicting her with the device. Its ability to change fonts and increase screen brightness has given her the ability to read again. It has “changed her life,” according to one of her daughters.

She’s even used the device’s virtual keyvboard to write limericks, like this one about her new Apple tablet:

To this technology-ninny it’s clear
In my compromised 100th year,
That to read and to write
Are again within sight
Of this Apple iPad pioneer.

Nicki Minaj Surprises 8-Year-Old YouTube Star on “Ellen”

Another cool video that gets viral on youtube this week.. ~ Dean Kosage

A homemade video uploaded to YouTube last month recently went viral, attracting almost 11 million views and landing its star — 8-year-old British girl Sophia Grace Brownlee — a segment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week.

In the video, Brownlee performs a fierce a cappella version of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” as her younger cousin Rosie Grace McClelland provides cute background vocals and even cuter dance moves.

Ellen Degeneres flew the girls to be on Ellen and surprised them (above) when she brought out the blonde-and-blue haired Minaj, who later performed “Super Bass” with the pint-sized duo.

“I’m the second Nicki Minaj,” yelled Brownlee after Degeneres plopped a wig on her head.

America's Best Downtowns

Keep Up With Dean Kosage…

Ten wonderful cities in America… ~ Dean Kosage

Chicago, Ill.

Downtown: Chicago, Ill.
City’s Total Population: Approx. 2,700,000

Chicago, Ill.

Of the country’s big city downtowns, Chicago’s relatively compact zone in and around what’s known as “The Loop,” wins hands-down for being the most accessible, pedestrian-friendly and varied in its offerings. Within a two-mile radius, visitors and residents alike can visit some of the world’s best restaurants, lounge in a resplendently outfitted urban park, visit world-class art museums, shop their wallets dry on Chicago’s famous store-covered Magnificent Mile, examine some of the finest architecture on the planet, find boats to tour Lake Michigan, or wander around the waterfront tourist-friendly esplanade, Navy Pier.

Portland, Ore.

Downtown: Portland, Ore.
City’s Total Population: 583,776

Portland, Ore.

Although Portland is well known as a city that is friendly to bicyclists, it also has a walkable and attractive downtown that offers a wide variety ofcultural options and commercial options. There’s a vibrant and active arts scene, great food on both the high and low ends, the country’s best selection of locally-sourced craft beers, an attractive and popular riverside park, and Powell’s, the largest and one of the best independent bookstores in the country. And while you can, with some effort walk around much of Portland’s relatively small downtowns, its best to mike like a local and rent a bike – you’ll get around more effectively, see more of the area, and get a little exercise – all good things in the greenest of “America’s 50 Greenest Cities.”

Burlington, Vt.

Downtown: Burlington, Vt. City’s Total Population: 42,417

Indianapolis, Ind.

Downtown: Indianapolis, Ind.
City’s Total Population: 839,489

Indianapolis, Ind.

Sure, there are museums, such as the Indianapolis Museum of Art, a large and important cultural locus that maintains a 54,000-piece collection. And yes,the Fountain Square district boasts a growing and productive bohemian vibe that is a big part of the city’s identity – many of the city’s downtown development efforts are focused on it. And of course, there are a number of well-regarded universities within the city and its surrounding areas that help instill downtown with a young and active character. But Indianapolis packs that and more into a six square mile downtown area that “For some, downtown paints a city scene: skyscrapers and taxis, nightlife, and takeout restaurants around every corner. If that’s you, you’re in luck. Indianapolis will give you the big-city experience, minus the actual big city,” says Livability in its listing.

San Antonio, Texas

Downtown: San Antonio, Texas City’s Total Population: 1,330,000

San Antonio, Texas

For those who haven’t yet visited San Antonio, the city conjures up images of a tragic and bloody last stand at The Alamo. But for anyone who has visited, the city is more than just home to one of the most famous historical sites in the West. The San Antonio River Walk is perhaps the most beautiful part of the city, creating a verdant pathway lined with colorful café umbrellas that winds its way through downtown, offering up a bevy of shops, restaurants, and bars on the way. Tour downtown, follow the river by foot or tour it by boat, and save your visit to the Alamo for the late afternoon, when the sun is in retreat and you’ll have more to remember from your trip than just an historic and valiant defeat.

Santa Monica, Calif.

With its proximity to Los Angeles, its world-class beaches, and its mix of families, students, surfers and the very rich, Santa Monica earns its place both because of its commercial offerings, but because of its stunningly beautiful natural settings. Clustered around some of the best beachfront acreage in Southern California, with the world-renowned Santa Monica Pier as the anchor, the city fans out into a lively and diverse set of surrounding areas. “You’ve got a great six blocks or so of shopping, with a mix of local stores, boutiques and chains,” says Clampet. “And unlike most of the rest of the region, you can really walk around and get by without a car.” A varied mix of smaller but interesting museums, galleries, and a busy nightlife scene also contribute to the reasons why Santa Monica earns a place on our list.
